The medicinal paraffin stands out from regular industrial paraffin due to its low melting point (approximately 46-52 °C) and its ability to release heat over an extended period.

Contraindications
Disposable paraffin wraps should not be used in the following cases:
- febrile illnesses
- acute inflammatory conditions, acute post-traumatic conditions
- bleeding, on open wounds and in acute skin diseases, heat-induced urticaria
- severe heart damage
- poor blood circulation, high blood pressure
- highly inflammatory rheumatic conditions
- osteoporosis
- allergies to heat and added herbs (use a peat wrap)
